If you're new, the first hours of WoW Forever go like this: pick a class and ruleset, finish your starting area, visit your class trainer at every even level, and set your hearthstone in each new town. Below are the questions new players ask most, with a short answer and a link to the full guide for each.

Before you start

Playing with others

  • How do I add a friend? Press O and click Add Friend. See adding friends.
  • How do I invite someone to my group? Right-click their portrait and choose Invite, or type /invite Name. See inviting to a group.
  • How do I whisper or talk in party chat? /w Name and /p. See every chat command.
  • What do Need and Greed mean? Need if you'll wear it, Greed if you'd sell it. See loot rolls.
  • How do I trade with another player? Right-click their portrait and choose Trade. See trading.
  • How do I find a dungeon group? See the dungeon finder and dungeons in level order.

Controls and quests

  • What are the default keys? L quests, M map, P spells, C character, K professions. See default keybinds.
  • What do the marks over characters mean? A yellow exclamation mark gives a quest, and a yellow question mark takes it back. See the quest log.

Staying alive

  • What happens when I die? You become a ghost. Run back to your body for free. See dying and the spirit healer.
  • My gear turned red. What now? It's broken. Repair at a vendor with an anvil icon. See repairing gear.
  • Why is my health so low after a fight? Sit down and eat. Health and mana come back much faster out of combat with food and drink. See health not regenerating.

Settings to change first

A few default settings make the game harder than it needs to be. See settings to change. For add-ons that help new players, our sister site has add-ons for beginners.

If your question isn't here, ask on the forum and we'll add it.
