Press Enter, type your message and press Enter again. Start it with a command to choose who hears it: /p for your party, /g for your guild, /w Name to whisper one player. Plain messages with no command go to /say, which players close by can read. These are the standard WoW controls. We haven't checked every label in the Forever client, so the wording may differ slightly.

The commands you'll use

Command Who reads it
/s Players near you (say)
/y Players further away (yell)
/p Your party
/raid or /ra Your raid
/g Your guild
/w Name One player (whisper)
/r The last person who whispered you (reply)
/1 The General channel for your zone
/2 The Trade channel, in cities

Whispers

Type /w followed by the full character name and your message. Forever names only have to be unique as a whole, so use the exact name the game shows. Press R after someone whispers you to reply straight away.

Channels

You join General and, in cities, Trade automatically. Type /join Name to join another channel and /leave Name to leave it. Our sister site lists the chat channels in Forever and the add-ons that clean them up.

Muting someone

Right-click their name in chat and choose Ignore, or type /ignore Name. They can't whisper you after that. Report spam or abuse from the same menu.
