Right-click the player's portrait or name and choose Invite, or type /invite Name in chat. They get a pop-up to accept. A party holds five players, and a raid holds up to 40. These are the standard WoW controls. We haven't checked every label in the Forever client, so the wording may differ slightly.
Four ways to invite
| Where | What to do |
|---|---|
| In the world | Target them, right-click their portrait, then Invite |
| In chat | Right-click their name in the chat window, then Invite |
| Friends list | Press O, right-click the friend, then Invite |
| Anywhere | Type /invite Name (or /inv Name) |
Use the full character name. Forever names only have to be unique as a whole, so a first name alone can match several people. See how to add friends.
Leaving, kicking and passing leader
- Leave: right-click your own portrait and choose Leave Group.
- Remove someone (leader only): right-click their portrait in the party frames, then Uninvite. Or type
/uninvite Name. - Make someone else leader: right-click their portrait, then Promote to Leader.
Turning a party into a raid
Raids need more than five players. Open the Social window (O), go to the Raid tab and choose Convert to Raid. Only the party leader can do it. Most quests don't count kills while you're in a raid, so stay in a party while you level.
Why an invite fails
- Different faction or ruleset. You can't group across them. See can't invite friends.
- They're already in a group. They have to leave it first.
- Invite-a-Friend accounts. A launch bug blocked them from parties. Blizzard fixed it on 5 November, and they need to log out and back in once. See Invite-a-Friend codes.
- You can't see each other after grouping. You may be on different layers. Leave and re-invite, then wait a moment. See layering explained.
Before you set off
Pick a loot setting the group agrees on, covered in Need, Greed or Pass. For a dungeon group with strangers, the dungeon finder does the inviting for you.
