Press O to open the Social window, go to Friends and click Add Friend. Type your friend's BattleTag (Name#1234) to add them on Battle.net, or their character name to add just that character. A BattleTag friend shows up in every Blizzard game. A character friend only shows that one character. These are the standard WoW controls. We haven't checked every label in the Forever client, so the wording may differ slightly.

A BattleTag request has to be accepted on the other side. A character name is added straight away.

Character names in Forever

Forever names only have to be unique as a whole, so a first name on its own may match several characters. Use the full name the game shows when you add or whisper someone. Blizzard explains the name system in its name post.

When it doesn't work

  • Different ruleset or faction: you can be friends, but you can't group, trade or join a guild together. See can't invite friends.
  • Invite-a-Friend players: a launch bug blocked them from parties, guilds and trading. Blizzard fixed it on 5 November, and they need to log out and back in once. See Invite-a-Friend codes.
  • You can't see them after grouping: you may be on different layers. Re-form the group and wait a moment. See layering explained.

Once they're added, invite them to your group or whisper them. If you plan to level together, read playing with friends first: same ruleset, same faction and where each race starts.
