Talk to a vendor with an anvil icon, then click the repair button to fix everything at once. It costs some gold. Blizzard's starter guide says to repair as soon as you can. You'll find these vendors in most towns, usually blacksmiths and armor or weapon sellers.

Yellow and red gear

Your gear loses durability as you fight and when you die. A small figure near your minimap shows the state of each slot:

  • Yellow: the item is nearly worn out. Repair soon.
  • Red: the item is broken. It gives no armor or stats until you repair it.

Hover over an item to see its durability, such as 30 / 45.

Two ways to repair

  • Repair All: the hammer button in the vendor window. Fixes everything you're wearing and carrying.
  • One item: click the repair button, then the item. Useful when gold is tight and you only need your weapon.

Keeping the bill low

  • Don't die. Each death costs durability. The spirit healer costs extra on top, so run back to your body instead. See what happens when you die.
  • Repair before a dungeon. A wipe on half-worn gear can break it.
  • Sell grays at the same vendor. That usually pays the bill. See more bag space.
