How talents work in WoW Forever

Forever keeps the original three-tree talent system but fills it with new talents. Here's what Blizzard has confirmed in its class deep dives (for example the Hunter and Druid post).

The basics

  • Every class has three talent trees. Each tree lines up with a spec: Arms, Fury and Protection for the Warrior, and so on.
  • You get your first point at level 10 and one per level after that.
  • Big "milestone" talents sit at 11, 21 and 31 points in a tree, plus a new one at 16.
  • You respec at your class trainer in a major city.
  • Dual spec unlocks at level 40.

What changed inside the trees

Many old must-have talents are now baseline. Blessing of Kings, Improved Mark of the Wild, Divine Spirit and Tactical Mastery are all given to you for free. Weapon specializations are merged: Arms Warriors get Weaponmaster and Combat Rogues get Hack and Slash. The space goes to new talents like Penance, Riptide, Lava Burst, Mutilate, Wild Growth and Pandemic.

Why we don't publish builds yet

Talent values changed through the beta, and Blizzard says they still can. We'd rather give you a build we've played than one copied from a calculator. Every class page lists what's new in each tree; builds follow after launch week.
