Blizzard now keeps an official Known Issues list, and its staff have confirmed problems with boats and zeppelins, empty-feeling cities, grouping and Invite-a-Friend codes. We checked Blizzard's staff posts on the evening of 5 November. New staff replies also appear on our updates page automatically.
Blizzard's Known Issues list
Kaivax posted the list on 5 November and says it will be updated regularly. It isn't meant to be complete. When we checked it, it listed:
- Dungeons: a cauldron near Roogug in Razorfen Kraul that you can fall into and get stuck.
- Gamepad: an error when deleting more than one rare or epic item, and push-to-talk instructions showing when you join a voice channel.
- NPCs: PvP vendors are temporarily unavailable in Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Dalaran.
- Quests: "Vorsha the Lasher" in Ashenvale is disabled until a crash bug is fixed.
- Interface: bank pages showing their tabs outside the frame.
- World: the Stormwind Keep entrance looking wrong, with flashing textures.
Confirmed in staff replies
| Problem | What Blizzard said | State |
|---|---|---|
| Boats and zeppelins getting lost | Portals were added near most docks and inside zeppelin towers, with a proper fix planned for the morning of 5 November | Workaround live. We haven't confirmed the fix went in |
| Areas feeling too empty | Aggrend said Blizzard was aware and would tweak some numbers the next day | Blizzard says a change is coming |
| Party members in different worlds | Kaivax asked players whether a blue message after joining offers Refresh Now, which should put you together | Being looked into |
| Invite-a-Friend players restricted | A hotfix fixed it. They were blocked from some chat channels, levelling past 10, guilds, parties and trading | Fixed. Log out and back in |
Details: lost boats and zeppelins, why the world feels empty and Invite-a-Friend codes.
How the faction lock fits in
"This faction is currently unavailable on this ruleset due to population imbalance" isn't a bug. Blizzard announced a balance system before launch. It's the biggest complaint on the forums right now, and we cover your options in can't create a Horde character.
Reported by players, not confirmed
Unverified. These come from Blizzard's forums and the bug report board. We found no staff reply on them when we checked, and we haven't reproduced them ourselves.
- Being unable to create a guild, including "guild name already taken" for names nobody seems to use.
- Health not regenerating out of combat.
- "The Great Outdoors" not completing at the campfire.
- FPS suddenly capped at 60.
- Anvils and forges not working for smelting, reported in Razor Hill and elsewhere.
- Mailboxes not working for some players.
- "Creation of that type of character is currently throttled" when making a character.
- Keybinds resetting after logging out.
- Auction house deposits that look like a flat rate whatever the item is worth.
- Warlock pets feeling too weak. This one comes from a listed change rather than a bug.
- Full system crashes, and AMD driver problems reported by some outlets.
- Pre-made characters missing, reported in launch coverage.
If you've got one of these, search the board for your exact symptom before you file a new report. A reply with your details helps Blizzard more than another thread.
A known issue from the beta notes
Blizzard's development notes list party changes as something that can move you to a different world instance. That's why a friend can vanish when you invite them. We don't know yet whether it has changed since launch. See layering explained.
