Updated 2026-11-02

WoW Forever system requirements start at Windows 10 64-bit or macOS 12, 8 GB of RAM, a 4 GB GPU and 128GB free on an SSD. Recommended is Windows 11 or macOS 15 with 16 GB of RAM. These numbers are Confirmed from the Battle.net Shop page, read on 2 November. Blizzard says requirements can change.

| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit (May 2019 Update or newer) | Windows 11 |
| CPU | 4 cores, 3.0 GHz (Intel Core Haswell, AMD Ryzen Zen) | 8 performance cores, 5.2 GHz boost (Intel Core Ultra Series 2, AMD Ryzen Zen 5) |
| GPU | DirectX 12, 4 GB (GeForce GTX 10 series, AMD RDNA 1, Intel Iris Xe2-LPG Lunar Lake) | DirectX 12, 8 GB (GeForce RTX 40 series, AMD RDNA 3, Intel Arc B-Series) |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | SSD, 128GB free | SSD, 128GB free |

Mac
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | macOS 12 | macOS 15 |
| CPU | Apple M2, or 9th generation Intel Core (Coffee Lake) | Apple M4 |
| GPU | Metal capable, 4 GB (Apple M2 8 GB) | Apple M4 16 GB |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | SSD, 128GB free | SSD, 128GB free |
You also need a broadband connection, a Battle.net account and the Battle.net desktop app.
Laptops
Blizzard doesn't publish a separate laptop list. Use the same table. Check your GPU's own memory and whether it supports DirectX 12, since some laptop graphics chips share system memory. The minimum list does name one integrated chip, Intel's Lunar Lake graphics. We haven't tested laptops ourselves and don't have frame rate numbers to offer.
Install size
Blizzard asks for 128GB of available SSD space. A hard drive isn't on either list.
Unverified: players on Blizzard's forums report much smaller downloads, especially with another WoW version already installed, because the versions appear to share data. Those numbers vary a lot, so plan on Blizzard's figure.
Compared with Classic and retail
| Forever (minimum) | Classic (minimum) | Midnight / retail (minimum) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | 4 cores, 3.0 GHz | Intel i5-760 / AMD FX 8100 | 6 cores, 4.0 GHz boost |
| GPU | DirectX 12, 4 GB | GeForce GT 440 1 GB / Radeon HD 5670 1 GB | DirectX 12, 4 GB |
| RAM | 8 GB | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage | SSD, 128GB | 15GB | SSD, 128GB |
So Forever sits close to modern WoW, not close to Classic, and a PC that runs Classic may not meet it. Sources: Blizzard Support's Classic and Midnight pages, read on 2 November.
Before you install
Blizzard asks you to update your operating system and graphics drivers first. If the install button is the problem, see install greyed out. For in-game tweaks, see settings to change.
