Totems used to be the Shaman's biggest chore. Forever, according to Blizzard's Mage and Shaman class post, makes them much quicker. Blizzard's later notes changed some details, and this page uses the newest ones.
Saved totem sets
- Call of the Elements (level 20): save four totems and drop them with one 3-second cast. Totemic Recall picks them up again.
- Totemic Call (22): bring all your totems to you, on a 30-second cooldown. Blizzard renamed it from Totemic Projection on 3 November.
- Call of the Spirits (30) and Call of the Ancestors (40): a second and third saved set.
Totems also use a 1-second global cooldown, and buff totems last five minutes. A totem tracker in the UI shows what's active and how long it lasts.
Buffs that changed
Windfury and Flametongue totems are now raid-wide buffs, not weapon enchants. Resistance totems cover the whole raid. Weapon imbues last an hour and stack with sharpening stones.
How we'd use it while leveling
Save one questing set as soon as you hit 20 and use it for bigger fights. Don't drop totems for enemies that die in a few seconds. The
Shaman leveling guide has the rest, and
Dwarf Shaman are new on the Alliance side.
