Levelling: what to do at each level Beta data

Level as Beast Mastery.

Send the pet, count two, open with Aimed Shot (20)
Hunter's Mark on anything that takes a while
Frost Trap when something reaches you
Upgrade the ranged weapon before anything else

1–10	Start in the Human starting zone. First talent point at 10. Put it in Beast Mastery for levelling. 10: Taming your first pet (class quest in Classic) (Classic level, check in game)
11–20	Talent milestone at 11. Talent milestone at 16. 20: Aimed Shot is baseline for every Hunter. Zone route for this band: after launch, from the live game.
21–30	Talent milestone at 21. Zone route for this band: after launch, from the live game.
31–40	Talent milestone at 31. Dual spec at 40: keep a ranged spec and a levelling or second spec. Zone route for this band: after launch, from the live game.

Top tips

Let the pet hold the enemy for a moment before you shoot.
Carry enough ammo and pet food for a long session.
Use a Frost trap to stop an enemy that runs at you.

Your spec as a ranged damage Beta data

Beast MasteryYour pet does the heavy lifting. Pets now scale with your gear, so upgrades help both of you.

MarksmanshipPure ranged damage. Sniper Shot reaches 45 yards, and Lone Wolf rewards playing without a pet.

SurvivalTraps and close-range tricks. Traps now work in combat, which gives Survival a real toolkit when enemies close the 8-yard dead zone.

Talent build After launch

Level in Beast Mastery, then switch to Beast Mastery or Marksmanship or Survival for your ranged damage role (dual spec opens at 40). First point at 10, milestones at 11, 16, 21, 31. Respec: at your class trainer in a major city.

The point-by-point build with one-click copy arrives once the Forever talent trees are live and tested. Blizzard hasn't published the full trees, and we won't guess them.

What to grind Beta data

Professions for a Hunter

Skinning + Leatherworking: Skin what you kill; Leatherworking makes mail and leather and armor kits for you.
Cooking: Pet food and buff food from the meat you collect anyway.

Camping (new in Forever)

Cooking's campfire becomes a shared camp. Up to three nearby players can each add one profession-crafted Camp Feature; sit or craft at the camp for a minute to get its buffs. Some camp buffs don't stack with class buffs (Blizzard launch post).

Reputations and zone farming spots: after launch, once the new Forever zones and their factions are mapped on live realms.
