Blizzard has one firm date after launch: raids open on 9 December 2026. Everything else on its roadmap has no date in what we've read.

With a date

Confirmed: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair open on 9 December for level 60 characters, on what Blizzard says is a planned weekly reset. See raid release date and schedule.

Without a date

From Blizzard's What's Next recap, in the order it lists them:

  • More raids and dungeons.
  • PvP updates and world content.
  • Additional quests across levels 1 to 60.
  • Hardcore, the permadeath ruleset.
  • A revamped iconic raid. Blizzard doesn't say which.
  • A legendary reward tied to the first raids. Blizzard says it will reveal this in full later.

Blizzard calls this a permanent game rather than a mode or a season.

What Blizzard says about class changes

From its 3 November notes, and worth knowing if you're choosing a main:

  • Apart from bugs and serious outliers, no big tuning changes are planned before the raids open.
  • Once it has data from players past level 30 in a wide range of content, Blizzard expects to do a large tuning pass.
  • Classes will keep changing over the following months and years.

So don't assume today's rankings will last. Our tier lists are marked with their date for that reason.

Other things that will grow

  • Legacy System: new challenges are planned in every content release, along with new perks, new trees and more rewards. At launch you can spend up to 16 points per character and earn up to 65 in total (Legacy post).
  • Race and class combinations: Blizzard says more are planned after the six new pairs.
  • Launch respawns: lower-level zones will return to more typical respawn rates once the first rush has settled.

What isn't on the roadmap

We've found no Blizzard statement on these, so they're unknown:

  • Arena, or a date for further battlegrounds.
  • Character transfers between rulesets, apart from Hardcore characters who die.
  • A second continent or anything beyond level 60.
  • An Xbox or console version.
