Which class should you play at WoW Forever launch?
Updated 2026-11-01

World of Warcraft: Forever opens on 4 November at 3:00 pm PST (00:00 CET on 5 November), according to Blizzard's announcement. Nine classes, ten races and a level cap of 60. If you're still undecided, here's how we'd choose.
Start from what you want to do at 60
- Tank dungeons and raids: Warrior, Paladin or Druid. Tanks never wait for a group.
- Heal: Priest, Paladin, Shaman or Druid. Healers are wanted just as much as tanks.
- Deal damage from range: Hunter, Mage or Warlock.
- Deal damage up close: Rogue, Warrior, Paladin, Shaman or a cat Druid.
Then think about leveling
Getting to 60 is most of your first month. Hunters and Warlocks level the most smoothly alone because a pet takes the hits. Druids, Paladins, Shaman and Mages aren't far behind. Warriors and Rogues are slower solo but great in groups. Our leveling tier list gives a reason for every placement.
What's new is worth a look
Forever reworks every class. Paladins get Holy Strike at level 6 and baseline Consecration at 20. Warriors get Victory Rush at 20. Shaman save totem sets and drop them with one cast. There are new pairs too: Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests and Dwarf Shamans, plus the new Skyborne race. The race guide has the full table.
