How to make a guild in WoW Forever
Updated 2026-11-03

Blizzard hasn't published steps for starting a guild in WoW Forever. Its new player guide tells you to join one but doesn't describe making one. What follows separates what Blizzard has said from what beta players reported.
What Blizzard has confirmed
- Characters can only group, join guilds, run dungeons and raid with people on the same ruleset and faction. So a guild is one ruleset and one faction.
- Agree on both before anyone makes a character. You can't move freely between rulesets, and on a PvP ruleset you can only make one faction's characters.
- On Roleplay rulesets, naming and behaviour rules apply, so choose a name with that in mind.
What beta players reported
Unverified, from Blizzard's forums rather than Blizzard:
- Guilds used a charter with signatures, as in Classic. Players mention signing charters and asking for fewer signatures, so the requirement is more than a couple of people.
- We haven't found the exact number of signatures or the charter's price for Forever. Unknown.
- Some players hit bugs finishing a guild in September, and one couldn't sign a friend's charter. Those reports are old, and we don't know whether they're fixed.
How it worked in Classic
Treat this as a guide only. In Classic, you bought a charter from a guild master in a capital city, collected signatures from other players by trading it to them, then handed it back to register the guild. If Forever works that way, expect it to be slow on launch night while everyone is busy leveling.
A plan for launch night
- Agree on ruleset, faction and name with your group now.
- Have a backup name. Character names are first come, first served across a region. Guild names may behave the same way, but we haven't seen that confirmed.
- Level together first if signatures are hard to get. A guild isn't needed to group or run dungeons.
- Look for people in the WoW Portal Room, Blizzard's Discord for finding fellow players, or on our forum.
See playing with friends for the rest. We'll put exact costs and signature counts here once we've registered one on a live server.
